The AALAS-MidSouth Branch established the “Dr.
Darrell E. Hoskins Memorial Award” to honor the legacy of Dr. Darrell E.
Hoskins who passed away June 13, 2020. Dr. Hoskins received his veterinary degree
from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. He
completed a veterinary residency in primatology at Wake Forest University
School of Medicine and studied cardiovascular pharmacology at the
Warner-Lambert Company. After completing a post-doctoral fellowship in
Laboratory Animal Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School in
1993, Darrell had an interesting and extensive career as a Laboratory Animal
Veterinarian. The memorial award was established by AALAS
-MidSouth Branch in 2021. The award honors the life and accomplishments of
Dr. Darrell Hoskins by soliciting nominations and recognizing the outstanding
accomplishments of an individual in the research community who has made
contributions toward the improvement of animal care or animal science. One
memorial award will be recognized at each of the Midsouth AALAS bi-annual
meetings. The MSAALAS BOD selects a winner based on
eligibility and criteria established by its Board of Directors. The award
includes an engraved award and stipend. |
